Responsibilities
* Conducting data collection and analysis related to manufacturing and inventory costs within the organization.
* Developing and evaluating cost standards.
* Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of bills of material for all product lines.
* Executing cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.
* Identifying expenses associated with labor, shipping, and various overhead elements, and establishing appropriate allocation methods.
* Performing reconciliations for various inventory accounts.
* Creating inventory reserves for both raw materials and finished goods.
* Recommending process and policy modifications to reduce costs and maximize profits.
* Providing guidance to upper management regarding product pricing based on cost data.
* Assisting other members of the accounting team with month-end procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
* Demonstrated comprehension of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in roles such as cost accountant, inventory analyst, or other relevant positions within the manufacturing sector.
* Profound knowledge of accounting principles and industry best practices.
* Familiarity with accounting software, particularly NetSuite.
* Proficiency in computer skills, especially in MS Excel, data entry, and basic computations.
* Strong financial analytical capabilities, coupled with a meticulous approach to organization and detail.
* Proven time management skills and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
* A commitment to upholding the confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal requirements and ethical standards.
* Expertise in activity-based costing for both fixed and variable costs, particularly in relation to the direct cost structure of product lines.
* A comprehensive understanding of inventory, inventory control, and valuation.
* Effective communication skills, encompassing written and oral communication, along with active listening.
