Senior Cost Accountant



We're seeking a highly skilled accounting professional to oversee key financial operations within a dynamic, manufacturing-driven organization. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of cost and inventory accounting, driving accurate financial reporting, and leading process improvements tied to a companywide ERP transformation. This position offers significant exposure to executive leadership, operational teams, and system implementation initiatives - ideal for someone ready to grow toward a Controller-level career path.



Core Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

* Prepare, review, and interpret monthly and quarterly financial results, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
* Contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting process, consolidating data across departments.
* Deliver management reporting packages highlighting key performance metrics, cost trends, and margin analysis.
* Support the development of presentations and financial summaries for senior leadership and external partners.



Cost Accounting & Operational Finance:

* Maintain accurate and timely cost standards for materials, labor, and overhead allocations.
* Perform detailed variance analysis across purchase price, labor efficiency, and material usage.
* Partner closely with production and operations leaders to evaluate WIP balances, production efficiency, and job costing results.
* Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers and ensure all production transactions are recorded accurately.
* Validate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and routings within the ERP system to ensure proper cost rollups.
* Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory processes to ensure strong internal control and valuation accuracy.



Inventory & ERP Systems Management

* Play a leading role in the NetSuite ERP rollout and ongoing system refinement, particularly for manufacturing and inventory modules.
* Assist with testing, data migration, and end-user support for accounting-related system functions.
* Build and maintain financial dashboards and reporting tools to enhance transparency across production and supply chain operations.
* Work cross-departmentally to automate workflows, improve reporting consistency, and enhance overall data integrity.



Accounting Operations & Compliance

* Oversee core accounting functions, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
* Manage transaction accuracy for payables, receivables, and payroll interfaces.
* Maintain reconciled and audit-ready balance sheet accounts.
* Support banking relationships, cash management, and compliance requirements.



Leadership & Development

* Collaborate directly with senior leadership on financial process improvements and system implementation strategies.
* Provide mentorship and training for junior accounting personnel.
* Contribute to strategic planning and financial modeling initiatives with exposure to executive decision-making.
* Build a foundation for advancement into broader financial leadership responsibilities.



Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
* 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing or cost accounting environment.
* Strong command of cost and inventory accounting methodologies, including standard costing and variance analysis.
* Hands-on experience with ERP systems - NetSuite experience is required
* Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control standards.
* Advanced Excel and analytical modeling skills.
* Proven ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
* High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, improvement-oriented mindset.
