Controller- Remote (Greater Upstate NY)
Our client is a growing beverage manufacturing and co-packing organization with an entrepreneurial culture and a strong focus on quality, innovation, and long-term growth. They are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations while partnering closely with executive leadership.
The Opportunity
The Controller will oversee the organization's accounting and financial functions, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient financial processes. This role will have a hands-on impact across accounting operations, financial reporting, ERP optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and the month-end/year-end close.
* Oversee General Ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, inventory, fixed assets, cash management, and reconciliations.
* Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and operational KPIs.
* Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and audit standards.
* Coordinate annual audits and work with external tax advisors.
* Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.
* Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and strategic planning.
* Optimize ERP functionality and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
* Support special projects, including potential M&A, financing initiatives, and other strategic priorities.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
* Experience with NetSuite and/or QuickBooks preferred.
* Manufacturing or beverage industry experience is a plus.
* Experience with inventory accounting and operational finance strongly preferred.
* Federal Excise Tax compliance/filing experience is a plus.
* Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
* High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
