Accounting Manager
Onsite Retail & Consumer Products Environment
About the Role
A growing retail and distribution organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations while serving as a key financial partner to leadership. This role will primarily support a dynamic retail business with additional involvement across a related consumer products organization, offering a unique blend of retail, operational, and corporate accounting responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys ownership of the accounting function, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can deliver accurate financial reporting while helping drive process improvements and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
* Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with GAAP.
* Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, cash flow analysis, and management reporting for company leadership.
* Oversee bank, credit card, merchant processing, and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Support inventory, cost accounting, and retail/e-commerce accounting activities, including sales reporting and transaction analysis.
* Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to provide financial insights and support business initiatives.
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and leverage systems to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Desired Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within retail, consumer products, distribution, or product-based businesses.
* Strong experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
Nice to Have
* Experience with NetSuite and/or QuickBooks.
* Exposure to inventory accounting, sales tax compliance, and e-commerce transactions.
* Experience supporting multi-entity environments.
* Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
