    Role Summary

    We are seeking a driven and highly analytical Cost Accountant to support and strengthen our inventory and cost accounting functions. This position will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of inventory valuation, product costing, and cost of goods sold (COGS), while working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and warehouse partners.

    The successful candidate will play a critical role in defining cost visibility, monitoring landed costs, and enabling informed decision-making as the organization expands its warehouse network using NetSuite and integrated warehouse management systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    Inventory & Cost Accounting

    * Establish, manage, and update standard costing, landed cost calculations, and consolidated cost structures for all inventory items, components, and materials.
    * Conduct inventory valuations and reconcile inventory records across multiple warehouse locations and storage facilities.
    * Oversee month-end and quarter-end COGS close activities, including accruals, cost adjustments, and variance investigations.
    * Partner with warehouse teams to support cycle count programs, analyze discrepancies, and identify root causes of inventory variances.
    * Review and assess purchase price, freight, and material usage variances to improve cost efficiency and operational performance.

    Systems & Operational Collaboration

    * Maintain and enhance inventory item setups, costing configurations, and workflows within NetSuite.
    * Coordinate with warehouse teams and WMS providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of inventory movements, including receipts, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
    * Assist in improving procedures related to receiving, storage, bill-of-material costing, and inter-location inventory transfers.
    * Work closely with Supply Chain to confirm vendor invoices, transportation charges, and appropriate landed cost allocations.

    Financial Reporting & Close

    * Prepare inventory and COGS journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly close process.
    * Contribute to the development of unit cost analysis, margin reporting, and operational performance dashboards.
    * Ensure adherence to GAAP standards and internal control requirements related to inventory and cost accounting.
    * Support planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities related to inventory levels, material costs, and logistics expenses.

    Cross-Departmental Support

    * Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Installation teams to ensure materials are accurately costed for projects and jobs.
    * Deliver cost-related insights to support supplier selection, pricing strategies, and margin enhancement initiatives.
    * Assist the Controller and CFO with special cost analyses and reporting as the business continues to scale.

    Qualifications & Experience

    * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or accounting roles within manufacturing or distribution environments.
    * Demonstrated experience managing inventory processes, cost calculations, and account reconciliations.
    * Hands-on experience with NetSuite is highly desirable.
    * Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting standards, and cost accounting methodologies.
    * Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including complex formulas, data manipulation, and analysis.
    * Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
    * Clear and effective written and verbal communication abilities.
    * CPA designation or active CPA candidacy preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
    * Experience supporting multi-warehouse operations or working with warehouse management systems is considered an asset.
